Tuesday
P1010100 -0632 We are here! We did it! We asketh for safe journey. We receiveith!! WOW!!!! This photo is taken from “The Pavilion” at Maho Bay on St. John. Just a quick 220 stair climb straight up!

P1010109 It is a Small World After All: Well upon first landfall in Maho Bay on Monday AM who are the first people we happen to run into? The real deal. True native St. Johnians - Jonas St John (Jordi’s cousin), his wife Sarah and their children Andrew (8) and Ben (3). I mean what are the chances!! Jordi and I then decided to dingy the lengthy half mile journey across to Cinnamon Bay successfully locating and awakening from his afternoon siesta no other than our good friend from Maine Gordon who until we arrived was spending some peaceful relaxing time with his girlfriend Johanna (plus her P1010101twin sister (yes I mixed them up once, sorry Johanna!!!), her sisters husband and their newborn child).

Raise the roofs!!! Whats up!! The Audax is in town! Dinner, drinks and an intense game of Uno at the Pavilion capped off day one of ninety here in the Isles de Virginos.

Wednesday aka Today

P1010111 Operation Hospitality went into full effect yesterday as we started the day with a short sail towards Jost Van Dyke. Passenger Manifest: Jonas, Sarah, Andrew and Ben. We then regrouped, reset and reloaded for a wild, windy and truly wonderful afternoon cruise to Cruz Bay with Gordon and Johanna.

The actions as they transpired over the next 3 hour period: Presidente malt beverage in celebration aboard Audax, dingy P1010015 trip ashore for exploration, cheeseburgers in paradise at local venue, dingy back to Audax,P1000987 “booted” by National Park Service for illegal anchorage location (great first impression!!), moonlight motor cruise back to Cinnamon Bay.. Gotta love it!!

A previous posting from the passage over.

Sunday night – Isle Culebrita
A whopping 7 nm journey today has us resting in a wonderful, secluded cove off La Isla Culebrita - a small island off theP1010096 coast of Culebra. Our first full day of rain did little to stop us from seeking out God this AM. Discovering thatP1010086 el Dios tambien habla Espanol, attendiamos la Methodista Inglesia, a mas interesante viaje con Jesus Cristo y el Dios. A run in the rain, leftovers of this fantastic feast (pictured here) and we are off. Game plan for tomorrow: Awake before the trade winds do and ship out in the pre-dawn hour of 0500 for the 30 nm leg across the Virgin Passage.

Monday
0700 – Note: The trade winds do not sleep. It howling as we steam full force into wind and swell, almost there!

What on are the chances…take a look at the name of place highlighted on the map and then the photo of it (this place is less than a quarter mile from our first anchorage)

Man is wise and constantly in quest of more wisdom; but the ultimate wisdom, which deals with beginnings, remains locked in a seed. There it lies, the simplest fact of the universe and at the same time the one which calls forth faith rather than reason. -Hal Borland “Sundial of the Seasons”
