Today enroute back from New Jersey and my grandmothers funeral, I got a call from Amanda, my most excellent boat broker that Steve the mechanic at Knights Marine where the boat is being stored had been aboard to change the impeller, a valve for pumping water through the engine, and that he had found salt water in the engine as well as a patch in the fuel tank and dead batteries, signaling the motor may not have been winterized properly, the fuel tank may leak and the batteries will need replacing. the latter not being so significant, the thought of a new motor clearly not the most ideal situation. Not to mention the fact I had just been denied insurance on the boat due to my lack of big boat experience and desire to take the boat to the Caribbean!
Well, tomorrow is the survey and we shall see where this whole adventure leads….
